About Me

I have taken on several roles during my work life including educator, musician,  scholar and editor. In these various roles I have developed a knowledge base and skill set that greatly inform my role as an instructional designer.

As an educator I developed excellent planning, collaboration, presentation, communication and management skills through developing and evaluating curriculum and instructional content aimed at closing learning gaps and working with learners from a variety of backgrounds in traditional and distance education environments.

As an editor I developed design skills, an attention to detail and an appreciation of the process of refinement through feedback by designing publications including multimedia, carrying out review processes and working with experts to prepare their contributions. I also learned how to get the best results with the available resources within the confines of a limited budget.

As a scholar I developed excellent research, writing and collaboration skills through publishing meaningful individual and collective contributions to the field of music theory.

As a musician I learned focus, the value of consistent skill building, team work and real-time adaptability through solo and ensemble practice and performance.

As a master's student in instructional systems design and technology I learned the instructional design process experientially through projects. I learned to connect learning theories and principles with educational practice through developing instructional content using a host of digital tools. I also learned how to constructively share ideas, learn from others and work together toward achieving an objective.
